The melting pot, the land of struggle, the underdogs. To say a neighborhood is diverse and full of culture would be an understatement. Flatbush knows how to party ! Maybe a #Soundboy from #Jamaica had an idea to inspire the world by migrating & settling here. But of course the good came with the bad, block parties became reckless endangerment and basement parties(?) Were nothing more than just death traps. I’ve seen horror right before my very eyes. Gunshots in the middle of the night were just the norm. My older sister threw house parties in our apartment while my mother worked overnight, & managed to get everyone out by sunshine before mom came(lol). I’m talking, the best #Djs in the area were spinning right inside my crib, I was a very inspired lil kid.
if you’re talking flatbush, you’re talking about the #ShowerPosse , FILA (FlatbushIsLiveAlways), RPL, BUSH RATS , UK, 2 first massive, 2MS, DRS, HSB, GYZ, Steam Team, BMW, original haitian mafia, A team and all those wild panamanians & jamaicans who were ruthless, and too many more to name..
Kenmore theatre, biltmore, tilden, trinity, de pellau, don one studio, the ark, afrika house…..
I can’t name every establishment, block or bad guy, the story is way too deep……… #Flatbush
